Alice Chen has the lead after the first round of the SoCon Women’s Championship.

The Lady Paladins of Furman continued their fine play and hold the first round lead at the SoCon Championship being played at the Savannah Quarters Country Club.

The Lady Paladins have a three shot lead over Chattanooga with East Tennessee in third place.

The Paladins also own the top of the individual scoreboard as well. Alice Chen holds the top spot followed by teammate Valentina Romero who is two shots behind her teammate.

Valentina Romero is two shots off the lead after the first round of the SoCon Championship.

Chen shot a 1-under par 71 today while Romero posted a 1-over 73. Haylee Harford gives the Paladins a third golfer in the top-10. The Furman freshman shot a 3-over par 75 and is in a tie for fifth place.

The Paladins fourth score came from Jacqueline Bendrick who was 7-over par and alone in 13th place. Taylor Totland was at 8 over par and in a tie for 17th place.

As a team the Lady Paladins shot an opening round total of 298, 10-over par.
