Members of the winning Daniel team included Whitfield, Emileigh Sword, Gillian O’Brien, Courtney Collins and Adrienne O’Brien
Katie Whitfield of Daniel led her teammates to the Upper State AAAA Championship at The Cliffs Valley.
Whitfield took top honors after shooting a 2-under par 70. Baylee Evans of Lancaster was second while Beth Ann Townsend of Travelers Rest finished third.
The Lions finished ahead of Greenville, Travelers Rest, Pickens and Wren. Daniel shot 322 to finish three shots in front of Greenville. Travelers Rest shot 339 while Pickens was fourth at 362 and Wren tied for fifth at 368.
Whitfield’s 70 was one stroke better than WSCGA Junior Champion Evans of Lancaster who shot an even par 72. Townsend and Jodee Tindal of South Pointe tied for third place at 73 with Kennedy McGaha of BHP coming in fifth.
The top teams will play in the South Carolina High School AAAA championship on October 24 and 25th at the Hackler Course in Conway.
