Clemson’s Bryson Nimmer has a home game this week. The Tiger golfer from Blufton is competing in the Players Amateur at the Berkely Hall Club just down the road in Blufton.

Nimmer is tied for the lead with Vanderbilt golfer Theo Humphrey going into the final round of the prestigious amateur tournament.

Nimmer shot a 6-under par 65 in the third round to share the lead with Humphrey. The Hilton Head Christian grad made six birdies without a bogey to be on top of the leader board.

The Clemson junior’s round was interrupted by a heavy rain that changed the way the course played once golfers got back out on the course.

“The course was a little softer. It made it a little more scorable I think,” said Nimmer. ” Some of those pins coming in were a little tough if we played them before the weather delay, but since we had the weather delay I think it was a little easier,” he added.

Nimmer’s third round score helped him break out of a log jam of golfers near the lead. The 65 allowed him to catch Humphrey who had a two shot lead going into the third round.

Being on the top of the leader board in this event is nothing new to the All-ACC golfer. Nimmer held the second round lead at last year’s Players Amateur.

Nimmer was the ACC individual runner-up and recently finished in sixth place at the nationally recognized Dogwood Invitational in Atlanta.
