Brock leads Greenville County Am at Pebble Creek

Danny Brock came close to setting a single round record after carding an 8-under par 64 to lead the first round of the Greenville County Amateur at Pebble Creek.

2013 Champion Todd Hendley is three shots off the lead after the first round.

The one time USC Upstate golfer shot a 30 on his first nine holes to get in position to chase the single round record.

The best single round in the history of the 51 year old tournament was turned in at Greer Country Club during the 2001 championship.

Former Clemson golfer Brent Delahoussaye shot a 63 at Greer and went on to win the championship.

Brock has a three shot lead over two golfers. 2013 champion Todd Hendley and Greer golfer Derrick Oyervides each shot 5-under par totals of 67.

Clemson golfer Colby Patton, David Batson and 63 year old Terry Willis each shot rounds of 3 under par 69 to finish the first day in a tie for 4th place.

Greer golfer Derrick Oyervides is tied with Hendley for second place.

The threat of bad weekend weather has changed the schedule for the tournament. Tee times for the second round will begin at 8 am and golfers will start on 1 and 10.
