The USC Gamecocks hope to build on a strong season in the NCAA Bremerton, Washington Regional. The Gamecocks have been installed as the top seed in the region to be played at the Golf Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton.
The Clemson Tigers will get a chance to play closer to home. The Tigers have been assigned to the Chapel Hill, North Carolina Regional. Clemson is the sixth seed in the regional that includes top ranked Florida State, a team the Tigers beat at the recent ACC Tournament.
The Gamecocks finished the regular season with five tournament victories setting a new school record for wins in a year.
Matt NeSmith won the SEC individual title and the team has been ranked in the top-10 of most major college golf polls all year.
Clemson notched one win during the season and finished as the runner-up in the ACC Tournament. The Tigers had six top-5 finishes and three second place finishes.
The Tigers have been to the NCAA Tournament every year since 1989 giving Clemson
one of the longest streaks in the nation.
Head coach Larry Penley has guided the Tigers to seven regional victories which is more than any other active college coach.
South Carolina has earned spots in seven NCAA regionals and advanced to three championships under the direction of head coach Bill McDonald.
The teams will begin play in their region on May 14th.
