Rain slows Conference Championships

The rain on Monday has caused several delays in conference tournaments in North and South Carolina.

The women’s Southern Conference championship being played at Lexington Country Club near Columbia will be cut down to 36 holes. The first round of the tournament was played on Sunday, but Monday’s round was rained out.

The Furman Lady Paladins lead the team championship race by 20 shots. A pair of Furman golfers, Alice Chen and Natalie Srinivasan are tied for the individual lead going into the final round.

The starting time for the final round has yet to be determined and may not be announced until Tuesday morning.

The SoCon men’s tournament is being played in Pinehurst, NC. The men played 36 holes on Sunday and have 18 holes left to play. Monday was rained out and the final round is scheduled for Tuesday.

East Tennesse State has a six shot lead going into the final round.

The Conference Carolinas tournaments were also rained out on Monday. The men and women played a portion of the second round and will resume play on Tuesday.

The Limestone men’s team has the lead with senior Will Woodard the individual leader. The Saints women’s team is also leading their portion of the tournament.
