Alabama golfer Kristen Gillman earned medalist honors after the two rounds of stroke play qualifying at the Women’s North & South Championship in Pinehurst.
Gillman finished the 36 hole qualifying tournament at 2 over par 144 and will have the top spot when match play begins on Wednesday.
Several local college golfers have advanced to the match play portion of the championship.
Furman All-American Haylee Harford shot rounds of 77 and 74 for a 8-over par 151 and finished in a tie for 14th place.
Harford’s teammate Alice Chen finished in a tie for 27th after shooting a 154 total.
A pair of Clemson golfers also advanced to match play. Marisa Messana finished in tie for 22nd while her teammate Kennedy Swan finished one shot back in a tie for 27th place.
The first round of match play begins at 7 AM on the famous Pinehurst #2 course with the second round of match play to follow in the afternoon.
