Wofford grad Andrew Novak continued his fine play at the Web.com Q School tournament in Dothan, Alabama.
Novak had shared the lead after the second round, but the former Terrier shot a 4-under par 68 to move to 13-under par and hold a four shot lead over the field.
Jordan Russell and James Domes ate at 9-under par, 4 shots behind Novak.
Several other area golfers did not do as well in the third round. Former Furman golfer Matt Davidson shot a 3-over par 75 and dropped into a tie for 25th place.
USC Upstate grad Ryan Cornfield dropped out of the top 19 into a tie for 27the place at even par and three shots below the expected cut line.
Clemson grad Carson Young and USC grad Matt NeSmith each stand at 220 in a tie for 47th place.
The final round is set for Friday and the top 19 golfers advance to the final stage of Web.com qualifying in December.
