USC Upstate risiing junior Jordan Warnock posted a 4-under par round of 68 to take the first round lead in the Spartanburg County Amateur championship.
Warnock carded four birdies without a blemish on his card to take a one shot lead over former champion Kevin Roberts.
Five golfers finished the first 18 holes within two shots of the leader. Former champion Brian Kennedy, University of Georgia golfer Trevor Phillips and future Gamecock golfer Harrison Corbin all shot rounds of 2-under par 70,
Three other golfers were able to finish under par at Three Pines. Darrel Brown, Forrest Fowler and Jeremy Ryan all shot 1-under par 71 to tie for sixth place.
Former champion Stan Sill, Max Fain and Charlie Bagwell finished at even par to round out the top 10 going into the second round.
