Third ranked Limestone shot the best round of the NCAA DII Championship, so far, when they posted a 2-under par round of 286.

The Saints turned in the only under par round of the tournament and moved up nine places to third, just four-shots behind Dallas Baptist, the top ranked team in the country.

Anderson tumbled down into a tie for fourth with 2nd ranked Lynn. The Trojans had a tough day shooting a 12-over par 300 to lose the lead they held after the first round.

“We really played our B game today,” said Anderson Associate Head Coach Denton Moore. “It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t good. We haven’t gotten a great feel for the greens yet. I believe after three days on them now, we will chip and putt our best tomorrow. We are going to have to if we want to make the match play,” he said.

Both Palmetto State teams do not have much breathing room to qualify for the Medal-Match Play final.

The top-eight teams advance to the Final matches. The final stroke play standings will determine the seeding for the finals.

After the first two rounds, teams six through ten are within striking distance of one of the final eight playoff spots.

Limestone has a 12-stroke cushion and Anderson has a 10 stroke advantage over the eighth place team from Colorado Christian.

Limestone made its big move up the leader board with four golfers turning in 1 under par rounds of 71.

Maria Morales, Ebba Hellman and Lena Schilowsky led the Saints with Limestone getting its fourth counting score from Stina Wikstrom who shot a 1-over pr 73.

Anderson’s Jessica Rathbone improved by a shot from her first round score to card an even par 72 and end the second round in a tie for 8th place.

“Jessica and Kennedy McGaha have been our best two players all year long, and they have continued to carry us here this week. We will need their best tomorrow to keep moving forward, said Moore.

Limestone will play the final stroke play round with Dallas Baptist and Lee University. Anderson will be included in the group with Lynn and Barry University as they battle for a qualifying position in the finals.
