Chapin, Dorman,May River, Waccamaw lead championships

Three locations around South Carolina are hosting the South Carolina High School League’s girls championship.

With the first round completed here are the scores we have been able to gather.

AAAAA at Mid Carolina Country Club

Dorman and Chapin have been the most successful teams in the classification this year so it should not be much of a surprise the two are tied for the AAAAA lead after the first round.

The two teams stand at 35 over par to hold a 9-shot lead over Carolina Forest with Lexington and Wando rounding out the top five.

Blythewood’s Caroline Hawkins continued her impressive play from the Lower State qualifying tournament.

Hawkins shot a 5-under par 68 to hold a 5-shot lead over Olivia Pellerin of Mauldin and Grace Lindsey from Wando.

AAA at The Hackler Course in Conway

Seneca is the host school for the state AAA championship at the Hackler Course in Conway, but Waccamaw might be considered the home team from nearby Pawleys Island.

The Warriors hold a 6-shot lead over Daniel (Clemson) with Seneca, Blue Ridge and Camden rounding out the top 5.

Individually Ella Kate Barnet from Aynor has the individual lead by a shot over Ansley Bryson from Seneca.

Katelyn Cox from Blue Ridge and Payton O’B rien from Daniel are tied for third.
