Marcus Grumbles birdied the final hole of regulation to force a playoff with Mike Hartin for the top spot in the AAG Open played at Pickens Country Club.
Hartin had posted a 6-under par total of 139 for the two day tournament by making on eagle on his final regulation hole.
Grumbles and Hartin played off on the Par 5, 18th hole at Pickens. Neither golfer was able to hit the green with their second shots.
Hartin caught a flyer and his ball rolled over the green. Grumbles second shot came up short and rolled down a hill in front of the green.
Hartin had a difficult pitch with little green to work with. His third shot landed just off the green past the pin.
Grumble shot was as difficult. His ball came to rest against a twig that kept it from rolling further down the hill.
“I couldn’t move the twig because I was sure the ball would move, so I had to play it and hit the twig,” he said.
Grumbles recovery shot skipped up on the green and stopped within three feet of the pin.
Hartin wasn’t able to convert his put for a birdie, while Grumbles rolled in the short putt for the win.
Michael Jordan finished third at 141, Dan Constantino was fourth and Derrick Oyervideas was fifth.
Flight winners included – Second Flight – Austin Finley, Third Flight – Doug Tooke, Fourth Flight – David Bradosky, Fifth Flight – Marshall Stuart.
