Spartanburg’s Todd White and his partner Nathan Smith of Pittsburgh shot a two day total of 5-under par at the USGA Four-Ball championship being played at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.
The two Ryder Cup veterans are tied for 8th place.
The team of Jordan Nasser and Taylor Wood claimed medalist honors and the top seed in the match play portion of the tournament that begins on Monday. The team finished at 133, two shots in front of White and Smith.
Two local teams did not advance to match play. The team of Kyle Milner of Spartanburg and Josh Branyon of Honea Path and the team of Jordan Byrd and Michael Sims of Clemson finished out of the top 32 teams.
