Lea Venable is no stranger to the top of the leader board at the Greater Greenville Ladies Golf  championship.

Venable has won five championships including a win in a 10 hole playoff last year.

This year it may be a little easier for the former USC golfer.

An opening round 6-under par 66 gives the defending champion a 6 shot lead.

Former champion Pam Prescott and Stephanie Johnson are in second place after each recorded an even par round of 72 at Southern Oaks.

Going into the final round several Flight leaders will try to hold on to the top spot in their divisions.

First Round Flight Leaders include, Second Flight – Candice Hohlweg, Third Flight – Lynn Williams, Fourth Flight – Christine Ring, Fifth Flight – Libbie Wilson, Sixth Flight – Gayle Vasile.

The final round begins at 9 AM with a shotgun start at Southern Oaks Golf Club.
