Walter Todd from Laurens shot a second straight 2-over par 74 to finish the stroke play portion of the US Senior Amateur in a tie for 26th place.
Todd will face Don Whittemore who finished 36th in the 36 hole qualifying tournament in a round of 64 match on Monday.
Former SCGA Senior Player of the Year Rick Cloninger, who now lives in Georgia finished in a tie for 12th place with the CGA’s all time winningest golfer Paul Simson.
The 68 year old from Raleigh has won two US Senior Amatuers and he posted the second best round of the day carding a 3-under par 69.
Bluffton’s Kevin King advanced to Match Play after finishing 36th in the qualifying tournament.
The news for other Palmetto State golfers was not as good.
Greenville’s Matt Grandy missed the cut on the number, 153.
Greer’s Mike Gravley, Greenville’s Frank Wrenn and Bluffton’s Duke Delcher were not able to advance to match play in the national championship being played at the Old Chatham Club in Durham.
