As juniors the two neighbors represented the USA in the Junior President’s Cup while both golfers were in high school.

Now as college sophomores the two golfers from Inman both have received All-American honors.

Phillips, a rising junior at Georgia, was named to the College Golf Coaches Association first team Ping Division 1 All-American team.

Bridgman, a rising junior at Clemson earned Ping Division I All American Honorable Mention honors.

Both golfers won their first college tournaments during the abbreviated college season.

The Boiling Springs High School grad needed a 7 hole playoff to take medalist honors at the Ka’anapali Intercollegiate during the fall portion of the season. Phillips finished regulation play at 20 under par.

During the season the lefty posted scores in the 60s in 11 of 24 rounds.

Last year Phillips was a second team All-American and during his first two years in Athens he finished with a win, a runner-up and four third place finishes.

Phillips ended the season with a 69.75 stroke average which set a Georgia single season record.

Bridgeman earned his first college win at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate in Aiken just before the season was ended by the NCAA.

Bridgeman shot a final round 5-under par 70 to slip by teammate Turk Pettit for the win.

Bridgeman finished the 54 event at 13 under par.

His final score tied for second as the lowest 54 hole score in the Clemson record book.

During the season, Bridgeman posted a 70.14 stroke average to lead the Tigers. He carded 10 rounds in the 60s and 12 rounds under-par.

He played in all seven tournaments for the Tigers this year and finished with five top-20 finishes.

Several other college golfers from the state were recognized by the national golf coaches association in both NCAA Division I and Division II.

Two Gamecock golfers earned Ping NCAA honors. Freshman Pauline Roussin-Bouchard from USC joined Srinivasan on the first All-Star team.

Jamie Wilson, a senior on the men’s team joined  Bridgeman on the list of golfers given Honorable Mention recognition.

Three golfers at Palmetto State colleges were recognized by the golf coaches associations as NCAA Division II second team All-Americans.

Eric Shea from Southern Wesleyan, Evans Lewis from North Greenville and Leo Johansson from USC Aiken were named Ping Second Team All-Americans

Limestone’s Levi Moody was selected for Honorable Mention recognition.

Several golfers from the area were selected to the Ping Division I All-Region teams.

Zack Taylor from Coastal Carolina, Logan Sowell from the College of Charleston, Turk Pettit from Clemson and Reid Bedell from USC Upstate were recognized for their seasons.
