
Upstate juniors are well represented at the top of the leader board after the first round of The Blade Junior Classic at Thornblade Club.
A pair of upstate juniors either have the lead or share the lead after the first round of The Blade Junior Classic.
William Jennings from Greenville owns a 3-shot lead for the boys overall championship.
Jennnings didn’t have a blemish on his scorecard. He posted four-birdies and an eagle on the fifth hole to shoot a 6-under par round of 66.
Austin Scott from Daniel Island is alone in second place after carding a 3-under par round of 68. Scott finished fourth last year in the rain shortened championship.
Grant Bennett champion Drew Harrill from Spartanburg and Major Lenning from Simpsonville share third place along with Spencer Benton from Gilbert at 2-under par 69 after the first day.

Williamston’s Chloe Holder and Fort Mill’s Alexia Siehl are tied for the lead in the girls division. Each golfer got to the top of the leader board in a different way.
Holder, who most recently was the runner-up in the CGA Twin State Classic, shot a 3-under par round that included 5- birdies an eagle and 4-bogeys for her share of the lead.
Siehl, who just won the CGA South Carolina Junior Match Play championship, didn’t make a bogey while making 3-birdies on her way to the same 3-under par 68.
(The Thornblade course plays as a par 72 for the girls and younger golfers in The Blade championship.)
MK Talledo from Boiling Springs and Mia Gray from Conway are tied for third place, 3-shots behind the leaders.
Will Ruth from Woodruff won the boys 10-12 year old division by shooting a 3-under par 69. He finished 5-shots in front of runner-up Dawson Szabo from Greer.
Caroline Hawkins , from Columbia, shot a 3-over par 75 to win the girls 10-12 year old division title.
The leading girls tee off starting at 8:50 am while the leading boys group starts at 1:10 pm.
