

Eddie Hargett got off to a fast start in the first round of the South Carolina Golf Association’s Senior Amateur at the Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg.
The 2019 SCGA Senior Player of the Year birdied three of his first five holes.
He added three more birdies to go with his one bogey on the 16th hole to finish at 5-under par 67.
2016 SCGA Hall of Fame inductee Steve Liebler from Irmo is in second place.
Liebler shot a 3-under par 69 to finish the opening round one shot better than Walter Todd from Laurens.
2018 Senior champion Rich Weston from Pawleys Island finished the first round at 1-under par.
Three time Spartanburg County Senior champion Stan Sill is tied with Jeff Stephens from Ware Shoals for fifth place.
The second round of the 54 hole tournament begins ay 8:30 on Wednesday morning.
The field will be cut to the low 45 and ties after the second round.
