Tigers and Bridgeman in striking distance

The Clemson Tigers and their top ranked individual golfer are both within striking distance of a win at The Collegiate Invitational being played at the Country Club of Birmingham.

Playing 18 holes on Monday the Tigers posted a 286 total to trail North Florida by 3 shots and finished the day tied with Tennessee for second place.

Jacob Bridgeman, attempting to win his third tournament this year, is also in a tie for second in the individual competition. Bridgeman shot an opening round 3-under par 68 to finish the round tied with Bryce Lewis from Tennessee.

Both golfers trail the individual leader Michael Mattiace from North Florida. Mattiace finished the opening round at 5-under par 66.

The 54 hole event will play its second round on Tuesday.

Big lead for USC Upstate at Golfweek Spring Invitational

The USC Upstate women have already won two tournaments this spring and have a commanding lead in the Golfweek Spring Invitational being played at the Caledonia Golf and Fish Club on Pawleys Island.

The Spartans have a 14 shot lead over Delaware after the first 36 holes.

Christina Carroll from Delaware has the individual lead by a shot over a pair of Upstate golfers.

Praew Nontarux and Beem Pabsimma both stand at 3-under par and trail the leader by a shot going into the final round.

The Upstate men are also in action at Myrtle Beach playing in the Golfweek Invitational for men at True Blue.

The Spartans Hunter Fry is tied for fourth place at 5-under par after the first 36 holes. Fry is 4-shots off the pace set by Pontus Nyholm from Campbell.

North Dakota State has the team lead by 8-shots over Campbell and Delaware. Upstate is tied for 8th place.

Lady Paladins in Fourth at The Brickyard Collegiate

Central Florida has the lead after the first two rounds at the tournament being played in Macon, Georgia.

Furman trails UCF by 14 shots going into the final round.

The Lady Paladins are in fourth place behind SoCon rival, second place Mercer by 8 shots.

Furman’s top golfer is Anna Morgan who is tied for 7th place at 4 over par.

Lauren Lightfritz from Mercer has the individual lead at 1-under par.
