More girls HS teams advance

Region championships continued around the state and several more teams won Region titles or qualified for the Upper or Lower state qualifying tournaments next week.

Upper State Qualifying tournaments;

October 18th, AAAAA – Chester Golf Course – Chester, AAA – The Links at Stoney Point – Greenwood, October 19th AAA – Boscobel – Pendleton

Lower State Qualifying tournaments

October 18th, AAAAA – Shaftesbury Glen Golf and Fish Club – Conway, AAAA – Country Club of South Carolina – Florence, AAA – Cheraw State Park Golf Course – Cheraw

Region I AAA

Belton-Honea Path won the Region I AAA championship shooting a 335 total. Seneca and Pendleton finished second and third.

Peyton O’Brien from Daniel was the Region player of the year.

Region V AAA

Gilbert won the Region title shooting a 310 total. Fox Creek and Swansea rounded out the top-three.

Kennedy Gooding and Alexa Hodge were named the co-players of the year in the Region.

Region VI AAAA

West Florence shot a 348 total to top North Myrtle Beach at 356 for the Region VI AAAA title.

South Florence and Myrtle Beach finished fourth and fifth in the Region.

Madison Messimer from Myrtle Beach shot a 68 to medal in the Region.

Region II AAA

Blue Ridge won the Region II AAA title by shooting a 329 total. The Tigers finished in front of Powdersville and Berea for the Region title.

Blue Ridge golfer Lindley Cox was the Region medalist shooting a 74.

Region III AAA

Chapman is the Region III AAA Champion finishing the Region tournament in front of Emerald and Broome in second and third place.

Olivia Ireland from Chapman shot a 73 and was the Region Medalist.

Region I AAAAA

The Hanna Yellowjackets won the Region I AAAAA title at Legacy Pines. Also advancing from the Region and included in the field for the AAAAA Upper State qualifying tournament will be Hillcrest, Mauldin and J.L. Mann.
