Groves Williams fired a two-under-par 70 at Holly Tree on Monday, leading the way in the boys’ 15-18 division of the Greenville County Amateur Championship.
Teeing off on the back nine, Williams got off to a rocky start as he bogeyed Nos. 10 and 12. However, he made a birdie at 13, an eagle 2 at the par-4 12th, and a birdie on the par-5 18th. He shot even par on the front to finish as the only golfer under par in the division.
Williams is two shots up on Tyler Burger of Greer, who came in at even par for the day. Henry Hall, Cody Harrison, Christian Bowers, and Evan Eassy are all in a tie for third at two-over.
Londyn Rath leads the girls’ 13-18 division at eight-over, a stroke ahead of Remy Reynolds. Anaston Bell is third, with Aubree Clements and Addison Parker tied for fourth.
Dawson Szabo leads the boys’ 13-14 division at two over, while Thomas DeMint’s one-under leads the boys’ 10-12 division. Wilson Brasington is one-under, the leader in the boys’ 7-9 division.
Spencer Kate Harvey is the leader in the girls’ 10-12 division at 11 over.
