Immediately after Todd White won the USGA Senior Amateur Championship he told the crowd he was at a loss for words.
With a day removed from the golf course in California and after a late night to early morning flight back to Spartanburg, White was in his class at Spartanburg High School this morning without ever having a rthought of stretching his celebratio out over the holiday weekend.
The South Carolina Golf Association Hall of Fame member was kind enough to spend a few minutes with us onthe phone to review some of the highlights of the week.
As you will hear in the interview, there are still some portions of the week that may have been a highlight to the media and others, but still may be a bit of a blur to White.
While the new Senior Amateur Champion enjoyed hearing from, countless friends, fans and admirers who enjoyed pulling for the home town golfer. The picture of the Spartanburg Girls Golf team and the Dorman Girls team with an oversized cut out head of White with them watching over their match yesterday found a special place in Todd’s blurred vision of the last few days.
Spartanburg High School is making plans to celebrate White’s victory and his championship, but were not completed at the time of this posting.
White was kind enough to share a few minutes with us for an audio interview.
We hope you enjoy hearing from the new USGA Senior Amateur Champion.
