Fan favorites and newcomers join the celebrity ranks at the BMW

Golf fans will not only have celebrities to watch at this years BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD Synnex, they will also have a handful of Korn-Ferry Tour players with local ties to follow during the tournament.

This year former Panther receiver Steve Smith Senior, Furman and USA soccer star Clint Dempsey, comedian Larry “The Cable Guy” and actor Anthony Anderson will bring their celebrity to the tournament beginning on June 5th at Thornblade Club and the Carolina Country Club.

The headliners will be joined by a group of celebrities you may need to Google to find out why they are inside the ropes.

Olympic skate board medalist Jagger Eaton, social media Influencers and personalities Hally Leadbetter and OG Lott, YouTube golf star Grant Horvat and Shazam actor Ross Butler are among the first 20 celebrities  expected to be part of the tournament.

“We’re thrilled to welcome such an incredible lineup of celebrities to the Upstate for this year’s tournament,’ said Michael McGovern, the Tournament Director. “This 25th anniversary tournament promises to be our most memorable  yet,” he added.

While the celebrities are affable, approachable and often awful golfers, the Korn-Ferry Tour players provide the reason for the tournament which offers fans an event that often resembles Fall for Greenville in the Spring and with golf clubs.

When spectators pay attention to the real golfers in the event they will see several with local connections who are making their way on the Korn-Ferry Tour.

Carson Young, Jacob Bridgman and Andrew Novak are recent Korn-Ferry graduates who played in the BMW before moving up to the PGA Tour.

Notably Clemson grad Bryson Nimmer who became a first time Korn-Ferry Tour winner with his playoff victory in Mexico will be in the field.

Nimmer shot up the Korn-Ferry Tour rankings into the top-20 with the win and is now a full time member of the Tour with playing privileges through the remainder of the year as he works towards earning his PGA Tour card.

A few other Clemson grads are regulars on the Korn-Ferry Tour this year. Former US Amateur champion Doc Redman, Billy Kennerlly and Kyle Cottam will give Tiger fans several golfers to follow.

The first two tournament rounds will be played at both the Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg and Thornblade Club in Greenville, 

The final two rounds will be played at Thornblade.

The number of affiliated events in the Upstate has grown to create entertainment opportunities for golf fans and non golf fans.

The popular concert in Spartanburg also on Wednesday night of tournament week will move from Morgan Square to the new Fifth Third Bank stadium and feature Cole Swindell.

Since 2001 the tournament has produced over $17 million for upstate charities, public service organizations and non profits.
