Golf is the family business for the Britt’s. Kevin has been recognized as one of the top teachers in the Carolinas winning the CPGA Teacher of the Year Award along with awards for developing young golfers. Bella was an outstanding junior golfer and in high school was named a player of the year in South Carolina before playing college golf at the College of Charleston. At Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, golf instruction is a family affair.
Kevin Britt, a nationally recognized teacher with deep roots in the Carolinas PGA, has spent decades helping players reach the next level.
Now his daughter, Bella Britt, is bringing her own voice to the lesson tee.
Kevin’s students have included major champions like Dustin Johnson, college stars like Natalie Srinivasan, and more than 100 juniors who have gone on to play college golf.
But his most seamless transition may be working with Bella, who joined him after a decorated junior and collegiate career.
Bella helped launch the girls golf program at Chesnee High School and was named South Carolina’s AAA Player of the Year her senior year.
She went on to play Division I golf at the College of Charleston, earning a degree in communications.
Teaching was always in the back of her mind—and her father’s influence was never far away.
“Sometime in her final year at Charleston we sat down and started talking about teaching as a career. We talked about what the profession required and what it could be worth,” said Bella’s dad.
The opportunity to play professionally calls almost every college player to take a shot, but after a serious father-daughter talk, Bella fell back to a decision she made 10 years ago.
“I’ve wanted to do this since I was 12,” Bella said. “That’s when I knew I wanted to take golf seriously. I started getting better quickly, and with my dad’s help, I really saw a path forward—not just as a player, but maybe one day as a teacher.”
Many golfers have to search and test different golf instructors to find the one that fits their learning process. For Bella, it never felt like she was taking lessons.
“Everything I’ve learned about instruction, I learned from my dad,” she added. “The way he teaches just makes sense to people. I’m lucky to be able to build on that and add my own voice.”

Over the years, Bella has been involved with Kevin’s instruction programs.
Lending a hand to his work at Carolina, Bella has unofficially been a member of the staff much longer than just since she finished college.
At Carolina Country Club, Kevin and Bella teach side-by-side. Their programs include adult clinics, PGA Junior League, and a signature series of Performance Golf Schools that draw students from around the country.
“It was pretty seamless when she came on board,” Kevin said. “She’d already been around our programs for years. She knows how I teach, and she brings her own feel to it—especially with juniors.”
He’s quick to praise her background, not just as a player but as a communicator. “Bella’s played at a high level, and she understands how hard the game can be. That gives her a connection with students. But more than that, she really knows how to explain things in a way that sticks. That’s rare.”
While most instructors are men, the place for women in golf continues to grow and in some ways may actually create a few more opportunities for top jobs.
“I think a lot of really good clubs will look at women as a great benefit. I think that’s a sought-after thing that’s way more in demand than men right now. I think a good woman instructor really stands out more in our field,” said Kevin Britt.
Bella’s strength is her ability to connect, particularly with young players navigating the ups and downs of learning the game.
“I want my students to know it’s okay to struggle,” she said. “You just have to keep working. I love helping them push through the tough stuff.”
Kevin, who also mentors instructors through the Carolinas PGA, says Bella brings both insight and instinct to her role.
“She’s had a fantastic first year,” he said. “And she’s just getting started.”
“My clients have been getting better and I’ve been enjoying it. This is the career I want and something I want to do for the rest of my life,” concluded Bella Britt.
