The Clemson Tigers are tied for third while the South Carolina Gamecocks are in sixth place after the first day at the NCAA Regionals.
Clemson shot a 4-under par round of 284 to trail the Chapel Hill Regional leader from Charlotte. The 49ers are at 13-under par. Florida is second at 7-under par.
Florida State is tied with Clemson for the third spot.
In Bremerton, Washington the Gamecocks shot an even par round to finish the first day of the regional in sixth place. The University of Alabama-Birmingham has the lead at 8-under par in the region.
The Gamecocks were led by Sean Kelly and Matt NeSmith. The two USC golfers finished at 1-under par 71. They trail Sean Crocker of Southern Cal by five shots.
In Chapel Hill Billy Kennerly is in second place after the first round. The Tiger senior shot a 5-under par round of 67 to lead Clemson. He is one shot off the pace of North Carolina’s William Register.
