Boiling Springs won their second straight SC AAAA title at Furman University Golf Club on Tuesday. The Bulldogs had been considered the team to beat.
The Bulldog golfer Graham Corbin, who had been a starter all year, suffered a freak accident when he was warming up before the first round. His club’s shaft snapped and cut his hand sending him to receive emergency care and taking him out of the tournament.
Josh Sprouse stepped in and the Bulldogs did what they came to Furman to do, win a second straight state championship.
Boiling Springs was led by Trent Phillips who won his second straight AAAA championship. The freshman golfer now owns two SC High School titles and is the defending SCJGA Junior Champion.
His brother Trevor Phillips finished in third place individually. Sprouse, Harrison Corbin and Cole Hair all contributed to the winning effort.
