The 84th South Carolina Golf Association championship begins play on Thursday at the Greenville Country Club’s Chanticleer Course.
It is the fourth time the championship has been held at the course. The previous winners at Chanticleer included, Dillard Pruitt in 1982, Taylor Hough in 1993 and Bill Haas in 2003.
This year the field includes the three most recent champions. Clemson golfers Cody Proveaux, Carson Young and the defending champion from Wofford College Andrew Novak.
The three champions will play together in the featured group on the first two days starting at 8:20 on the first tee.
A fourth former champion, Lee Palms, is a member at Greenvllle and is the last non-college golfer to have won the title with his victory at Musgrove Mill in 2008.
Activities for the championship began on Wednesday night when the club hosted a special Champions shoot-out.
