Bad weather hit the South Carolina Amateur and prevented the first round of the 84th annual championship from being completed on Thursday.
Before play was suspended the youngest player in the field claimed the lead. Boiling Springs golfer Trent Phillips posted a 6-under par 66.
Phillips was one of the last golfers to complete his round before play was halted for darkness.
Ware Shoals golfer Michael McKee finished with a 5-under par 67 to be in second place among the golfers who have finished.
Ryan Carpenter of Aiken fired a 4-under par round of 68 to finish his first round in third place so far.
Future Gamecock Will Miles of Hilton Head, Is. is tied with two other golfers at 3-under par. Miles is joined by Thomas Todd of Greenville and Nick Eberhardt of Lake Wylie who are all tied for fourth place.
The golfers who did not finish will begin play with a 7:30 am shotgun start on Friday to complete their rounds. The second round will likely be about an hour behind the scheduled starting times.
