The Clemson Tigers and the South Carolina Gamecocks have begun Regional play in hopes of making the NCAA Men’s golf finals.
The Tigers Bryson Nimmer got off to the best start of any of the Clemson golfers. Nimmer, who came within a shot of winning the individual ACC title is tied for the individual lead at the NCAA Regional in Tennessee.
Nimmer shot an opening round 6-under par 66 to finish the first day tied with Vanderbilt golfer Patrick Martin.
Vanderbilt, playing close to home, has the first round lead after shooting a 9-under par round. The Clemson team stands at even par 288 and is currently 5th in the region.

South Carolina, playing at West Lafayette, Indiana is fourth in their regional. The Gamecocks are being led by Keenan Huskey who shot a 3-under par 69 and is tied for fourth place.
UNLV leads the Regional with Illinois and New Mexico ahead of South Carolina.
