It has been a few years since Greenville County has held a junior championship. This year the Greenville County Golf Association with the help of Holly Tree Country Club has brought back the tournament for juniors.
Peyton Gillespie shot an even par round of 72 to take the first round lead in the older girls division. Gillespie has a three stroke lead over Sarah Boteler going into the final round.
The older boys division is lead by Jack Wilson. Wilson shot a 3-under par 69 to hold a three-shot lead over a pair of competitors.
John Hunter and Jimmy McCollum each posted even par rounds of 72. Walker Redmond carded a 73 and Sam Merrell was in with a 74 to round out the top five in the 15-18 year old division.
Jack Roberts shot an opening round 73 to hold a five shot lead over Tillman Alverson going into the final round in the boys 13-14 year old division.
Tip Price has the lead by a shot of Hugh Faulkner and two shots over Charlie Lamb in the boys 10-12 age group.
Amongst the youngest golfers William Anderson had the best round shooting a 36 for the nine hole competition.
