@chillinchico is on fire!

Bryson Nimmer won the season opening Carpet Classic and added a second individual championship to his resume with a win at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate.

Bryson Nimmer’s twitter handle is @chillinchico, but at the start of the new college season there is nothing ‘chill’ about Nimmer’s game.

The Clemson senior won the first tournament of the season at the Carpet Classic and added his second straight win with a victory at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Nimmer shot rounds of 67-63-65 for a winning total of 195.

The Tiger golfer from Bluffton started the final round one shot behind Chun An Yu of Arizona State and finished two shots ahead of the Sun Devil golfer.

The All-ACC golfer’s second round 63 was a personal best. He was able to better the 64 he shot at the NCAA National Championship last May.

William Nottingham has the Clemson single round record score of 62 set tw years ago at Raleigh.

Nimmer has played six tournament rounds and has shot in the 60s in five of those rounds. His only round out of the 60s was carded in the opening round of the Carpet Classic when he shot an even par 72.

The victory at The Farm was Nimmer’s first college win. He finished two shots in front of Davis Riley of Alabama and Jack Meenhorst of Tennessee.

Last week Nimmer was added to the Haskins Award watch list. The Haskins award is the Heisman Trophy for college golfers.

The Tigers finished in sixth place at the tournament in Arizona to go with their 4th place finish at the C arpet Classic.
