Behr and Venable knocked out of US Mid Ams

USGA Men’s Mid Am Medalist Stephen Behr lost his round of 16 match and is out of the competition at the Charlotte Country Club.

In St. Louis, Lea Venable from Greenville was eliminated in her round of 32 match at the USGA Women’s Mid-Am.

Behr opened the day with a victory in his round of 32 match. The former Clemson All-American topped Samuel Echikson of Belgium with a 3&2 decision. Behr never trailed in the match.

The second match of the day featured the top seed taking on the 49th seeded golfer, Rusty Mosely of Georgia. The former Florida State golfer trailed Behr until the final two holes.

Mosely parred the 17th hole to square the match and advanced to the quarter-final round with another par on the final hole.

Lexington’s Jordan Sease lost his round of 32 match to Sam O’Dell from West Virginia 2&1.

Venable trailed on the front nine, but got her match with Jordan Craig-Nyiri even at the turn. On the back nine Craig-Nyiri made a pair of birdies to take the lead and eventually the match at 3&2.
