A full field of junior golfers put plenty of red numbers on the scoreboard in the first round of the South Carolina Golf Association’s Junior Championship at the Tradition Golf Club in Pawleys Island..
Adam Hunt, who last week won the Carolinas Golf Association’s Jimmy Anderson Boy’s Junior Invitational, shares the lead with Lancaster’s Trey Crenshaw.
The leaders shot rounds of 5-under par 67s to share the lead by 2 shots over four golfers including the 2019 champion Austin Scott from Charleston.
Hunt carded six birdies and a bogey while Crenshaw didn’t have a blemish on his first round scorecard.
In all 18 golfers in the field of 120 juniors carded under par rounds and seven more golfers finished the opening round at even par.
Two Greenville golfers are on top of the boys 13-14 year old age group division.
William Jennings shot a 2-under par 70 while Tip Price is one shot behind at 71 after the first round.
Chase Cline and David Oliver are tied for third place in the division.
The tournament is sponsored by the Heritage Classic Foundation.
