Morgan makes the cut at US Am

Furman golfer Anna Morgan made the Match Play bracket at the US Women’s Amateur in Maryland.

Furman’s Anna Morgan has made the cut and will tee it up in Match Play at the USGA Amateur.

The Lady Paladin golfer from Spartanburg tied for 48th after shooting rounds of 76 – 73 for a 5-over par 149 total.

Morgan finished two shots inside the cut line to avoid a 15 for 6 spot playoff in the morning.

The CGA Carolinas and WSCGA Amateur champion had worked her way to 4-under par in the round before a double and three bogeys dropped her back several spots.

Also advancing into mach play was Jensen Castle of Columbia. The University of Kentucky golfer shot two rounds of 74 for a 148 total to finish the 36 hole medal play in a tie for 36th,

Rachel Hex won medalist honors. The incoming Stanford freshman finished at 4-under par 140 to earn the number one seed in match play.

Clemson golfer Ivy Shepherd finished at 9-over par and missed the cut.

The Match Play bracket will be completed after the playoff on Thursday morning at the Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Maryland.

The tournament was delayed a day by Hurricane Isaias.
