Clemson’s Turk Pettit and Georgia’s Trent Phillips from Boiling Springs both were eliminated in the round of 64 at the US Amateur.

Pettit lost out to Phillip Barbaree in 19 holes. The Clemson Tiger golfer worked his way back to even with the LSU Tiger golfer after being 4 down on the front nine.

Pettit birdied the 18th hole to force the extra hole, but bogeyed the 19th hole.

Phillips never led in his match with Michael Thorbjornsen. The future Stanford golfer built his lead to 4 up by the 11th hole.

The Georgia All-American  was able to cut one hole off Thorbjornsen’s lead on the 15th hole, but tied the 16th hole to be eliminated.

Clemson’s Jacob Bridgeman and Gamecock golfer Ryan Hall faced some long odds in a morning playoff for three remaining spots in the match play bracket.

Bridgeman and Hall were unable to get past the 17 golfers in the playoff.
