Dorman’s Nathan Franks shot an opening round 6-under par 66 to lead a strong team and individual field at the Hurricane Invitational being played at Southern Oaks in Easley.

The 24 team field includes several highly ranked teams and more than a handful of experienced South Carolina Junior Golf Association competitors.

Franks, a future Gamecock golfer, has a 2-shot lead over his teammate David Ross with Greenville County High School champion Major Lenning in 3rd place 3-shots off the lead.

Greenville’s Tip Price is in 4th place with John Quarterman from Hanna in fifth.

Spartanburg County Junior champion Barrett Josey from Byrnes is tied with Max Vischer from Daniel for sixth place.

With two golfers in the top-2 spots it should be no surprise that the Cavaliers hold the team lead in the tournament.

Dorman shot a 292 total to finish the opening round 8 shots in front of the Greenville County team champions from Mauldin.

Greenville is 3rd at 307 with Hanna in 4th place at 313 and Eastside in 5th place at 319.
