Each of the 5 Cavalier golfers finished the 36 hole event with scores in the 60s and 70s. If all five scores could have counted the team would have had all five golfers in the top-10.

William Jennings opened the tournament with a 3-under par 69 and went on to claim medalist honors and the state individual title.

His closest competition came from teammate Jack Wofford and brother Walker Jennings. Jay Lowder and Jack Roberts contributed to the victory.

The championship is the 19th earned by the school, the most in the history of the sport in the High School League.

Allowing for last year when the pandemic prevented the tournament from being played the Cavaliers have won the last four state championships.

The Woodruff Wolverines did all that as the home team won the AAA State championship on their home course at Three Pines Country Club.

The Wolverines opened the 36 hole championship with a 10 shot lead over Bishop England the winner of the last two championships.

Teammate and future Presbyterian College golfer Trey Howard shot an even par opening round and came back with a 3-under par 69 in the final round to get within a shot of his teammate.
