A pair of big junior tournaments are underway this week in Myrtle Beach and Florence.
The Women’s South Carolina Golf Association junior championship is being played at Arcadian Shores in Myrtle Beach while the top boys are in Florence for the Grant Bennett Junior.
At Arcadian Shores, Sydney Roberts from Chesnee has the first round lead after shooting a 3-under par 69.
Madison Messimer from Myrtle Beach is one shot behind Roberts going into the second round on Tuesday.
Adrian Anderson from Murrells Inlet is tied for third place with Camila Burnett from Bluffton at even par.

In Florence a field almost as strong as the state junior championship began play in the Grant Bennett Florence Junior Invitational.
110 golfers are in the field this year and many of the names that appeared at the the top of the SCGA Junior last week at Forest Lake in Columbia are again near the top this week.
Jerry Bruns from Beaufort had the best opening round posting a 5-under par 66 to hold a 1-shot lead over Walker Jennings from Greenville.
The only blemish on Bruns’s score card was a double bogey on the par-4 16th hole, but his 7-birdies earned him the top spot after the first round.
After a bogey and double bogey start Jennings reeled off six straight birdies to keep pace with Bruns. His 18th hole birdie put him within a shot of the leader.
Last week Rowan Sullivan from Charleston won the SCGA Junior championship and he is close to the lead after the opening round.
Sullivan shot a 1-under par 70 to be tied with Olie Rotermund from Daniel Island in third place.
