
The second edition of the South Carolina High School golf coaches poll had a big change at the top of the AAAAA rankings.
Chapin High School has taken the lead from Boiling Springs after a win at the Battle of the Dam and a top-10 finish at the Bengal.
Chapin’s Wyatt Harrill won the individual title at Golden Hills shooting a 69 while the team climbed to the top spot with a 303 total. The Chapin team included Chase Cline, Harrison James, Jay Locker and Jack Cuneo.
Boiling Springs, which opened the season as the top ranked AAAAA team, is working through some injury problems and has not been at full strength to start the year.
The Bulldogs dropped behind Chapin into second place with Spartanburg showing some early season strength moving up to third.
Three of the four South Carolina High School Classification rankings saw little change during the first few weeks of the season.
Flora with a win at the Bengal and Greenville with a win at The Rebel have kept the AAAA rankings close at the top spots.
Last year’s runner-up in AAA, Bishop England, is on top of the classification again in this poll with Oceanside and the defending AAA champions from Woodruff close behind.
Christ Church opened the season with a solid win in The Red Raider Invitational and are on top of the AA-A Classification.
