Upstate leads Big South tournament, USC second at the SEC

USC Upstate has a 1-shot lead after the first round of the Big South Women’s Championship being played at The Patriot near Ninety-Six, SC.

Upstate has been one of the hotest teams in the country this spring.

Since returning for the spring season Upstate has a tournament win at the Lady Bison Bay Point Classic.

The team has also collected three second place finishes and a third place.

Praew Nonarux is just 1-shot out of the lead at the Big South Women’s championship being played at The Patriot.

At the Big South Championship the Spartans have four golfers in the top eight spots in the field.

Praew Nontarux and Abigayle Hatcher are in a third place tie with three other golfers at 2-over par after the first round.

The individual leaders are Caroline Engelbredt from Charleston Southern, who is tied at 1-over par with Daniellle Suh from High Point.

Upstate also has two golfers tied for eighth place just two-shots off the lead.

Beem Pabsima and Suwarin Yordin each shot rounds of 75 to share the spot with three other golfers.

South Carolina is tied for2nd at the SEC Championship

Freshman Hanna Darling posted the best score for the Gamecocks as South Carolina is in second place after the first round of the SEC Championship.

The tournament is being played at Grayhawk Country Club in Birmingham.

Darling shot a 1-under par 71 to tie for fifth place with two other golfers.

Florida is tied with South Carolina in second place.

Auburn has a narrow 1- shot lead over the Gamecocks and Gators.
