MK Talledo’s score went up in the second round of the Carolinas Golf Association’s Women’s Amateur, but her four-shot lead stayed the same.

The College of Charleston’s rising sophomore opened the 54 hole championship at Yeamans Hall in Charleston with a 7-under par 65 to hold a four shot lead over fellow Cougar Emma Schimpf.

In the first round Talledo, from Spartanburg, didn’t make any bogeys.

Her second round included four bogeys, three of which came on her 15th thru 17th holes (numbers 6-8 on the course), but when all the scores were posted her lead was the same.

Instead of Schimpf trailing by four-shots Madison Messimer from Myrtle Beach used a 2-under par 70 to make a big move up the leader board into second place.

Messimer, who is just 15 years old won last year’s WSCGA Junior championship. She had four birdies and an eagle on her scorecard to post the 2-under par round.

Augusta State’s Chloe Holder from Anderson is in the mix for the championship after shooting a 1-under par 71 in the second round.

The Sunland Conference Freshman of the Year is at even par for the tournament and trails Talledo by 5-shots going into the final round on Friday.

Seven golfers are in a tie for fourth place at 3-over par.
