The formula was the same for the Dorman Cavaliers as they scooped up their sixth tournament title with a win at the Lady Patriot.

A top of the leader board performance from Abbey Franks and solid play from the rest of the team resulted in another win for the Cavaliers.

“We are undefeated this year,” said Franks. “I think we have all been working hard and practicing and we have gotten better together this year,” she added.

It was the second individual title for the Dorman golfer to go along with three runner-up finishes as Franks has either been first or second in five of the Cavaliers’ six tournaments this season.

The Cavalier senior was backed up by a strong performance from Londyn Rath, Ava Romansky Maddie Peake and Maddie Carroway as the team remained undefeated in major girls high school tournament play.

The first South Carolina Golf Coaches Association Poll had the Cavaliers ranked as the top AAAAA team in the state. The Cavaliers posted a 321 total to finish 10 shots in front of Seneca, the number 1 ranked AAA team in South Carolina.

“We’ve been doing the same thing all year. We just keep grinding. We are not worried about rankings. We just go out and play our game and however it ends up, it ends up,” said Franks.

Most teams have some region matches remaining before Regional championships are played to qualify for the Upper and Lower State qualifying tournaments.

The top teams in those qualifiers advance to the state championships later in October.

Franks believes the high ranking and the success the Cavaliers have had so far this year will not change anything as they prepare for the biggest tournaments of the season.

“We won’t change anything, how we go to practice, everything has been great. The only thing we can do is control our practice, not the results so we are just going to keep on practicing,” said the Lady Patriot medalist.

On October 17th the AAAAA Upper State qualifier will be played at Chester Country Club, while Willow Creek will host the AAA qualifier and the Upstate teams in AAAA will qualify for the state championship at Saluda Valley
