With all due respect to the other hard working teams in the South Atlantic Conference , the SAC women’s championship looks like an inter-squad scrimmage.

The Anderson Trojans lead expanded to 30 shots over second place Wingate with Limestone in third tied with Carson-Newman at the end of the second round..

The individual leader continues to be the SAC Freshman of the Year, Kennedy Gooding , who shot a 3-over par round, but still has the lead.

Here is where the rest of the Trojans are taking aim at their teammate and the individual tournament lead.

The SAC Player of the Year, Jessica Rathbone shot a 3-under par 69 and with her round has moved within a shot of Gooding for the lead.

Kennedy McGaha shot her second even par round of 72 to move into third place.

The other Trojan golfers made the top-10 with Kerington Lamb now at 2-over par in fourth and Zoey Iglesias is tied for ninth.

“Today was another day of rock-solid golf from the girls,” said Anderson Head Women’s Coach Denton Moore. I thought the course and conditions were probably 10 shots harder today. The girls got off to another great start today and really just cruised along. We had a little bit of a bumpy finish, but overall it was another great day,” said Moore.

Anything can happen on a golf course but realistically the rest of the field is playing for second place.

The last time the Trojans were this dominant in a tournament was the Carolinas Golf Association Four-Ball championship last summer at Rumbling Bald’s Apple Valley course.

The Trojans were not playing as a team, but as a pair of teams. With Jessica Rathbone and Emma Charles winning their way into the finals to face their college teammates Kerington Lamb and Kennedy McGaha.

Anderson golfers are hard to beat even if you are another Trojan golfer.

It took three extra holes for the Trojans to beat the Trojans, with Charles and Rathbone claiming the title.

After sweeping all the conference awards in women’s golf, and putting four golfers on the All-Conference team. the Trojans are ready to celebrate and ready to move on to an NCAA Regional.

But they still have to play on Tuesday.
