Rhoades eagles his way to the lead

Harrison Rhodes started his round with an eagle and ended it the same way to hold the first round lead at the CGA Mid-Am Championship,

The Raleigh golfer was the only player to eagle the par-4 421 yard first hole and finished his round with an eagle on the par 5, 535 yard finishing hole.

Between the eagles, Rhodes shaved three more shots off par to finish with a 7-under par 65 at The Cliffs at Mountain Park.

William Buchanan from Greensboro and former USC Upstate golfer Jamie Lightsey are tied for second just one shot behind the leader.

The South Carolina’ Golf Association’s Player of the Year, Sam Jackson from West Columbia, carded a 5-under par 67 and is tied with former Clemson golfer Austin Langdale from Pendleton for fourth.

The 54 hole CGA Championship concludes on Saturday.
