The Hanna Yellow Jackets have gone from outside the rankings to the number one team in AAAAA in the latest South Carolina High School Golf Coaches poll.

The Jackets started the year with an eye opening performance at the Red Raider Invitational and while it wasn’t a win it was a very good second place finish in an event with one of the better fields of the year.

Hanna went form un-ranked to third in the AAAAA poll and on to number one as teams get ready for region play.

The rest of the AAAAA rankings have seen some movement as Boiling Springs and Chapin have fallen to third behind a Maudin team that has collected a handful of runner-up finishes.

After winning the Lexington County title River Bluff has moved up to number 4.

The latest AAAA poll confirms what has been happening during the season/ There could be as many as six or seven teams that have a real chance to be in contention for a state title.

Flora and North Augusta have swapped the top spot in the poll so far this year and as teams get close to the end of the season the two are tied at the top of AAAA.

Greenville has won a pair of tournaments including the Greenville County championship and the recent Wren Invitational.

Sneaking up the poll are Eastside and Riverside, both teams have improved over the spring.

In AAA Wren has broken out of a tie with Woodruff and moved to the top of the poll.

Beaufort had been on top, but they have dropped into third place.

Christ Church has held its spot in the AA-A poll.

The teams in this ranking will split into AA and A classifications for state championship play.

The Cavaliers would have the top spot in Class A while Oceanside would be leading a AA poll

Many of the ranked teams are in action on Friday and Saturday at the Southern Cross tournament being played at the Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken on Friday and Saturday.

After starting the year out of the top spot in the AA-A Poll the perennial state champions from Christ Church are on top of the poll as the season nears Regional play. (GolfClub Photo)
