The South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame inducted seven new members into the elite group of athletic legends in the Palmetto State on Monday night in Columbia.
Included in the group was retired Clemson golf coach Larry Penley.
Penley retired after guiding the Clemson golf program for 38 years.
Among his Hall of Fame accomplishments were 10 ACC Golf Championships and 83 tournament titles putting Penley at the top of all ACC golf coaches.
Also inducted into the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame were retired South Carolina soccer coach Mark Berson, Georgia Tech star quarterback Joe Hamilton, NBA star Jermaine O’Neal, Clemson quarterback Woody Dantzler, USC and Packer star receiver Robert Brooks and Olympian Dawn Ellerbe. Negro League baseball star Chino Smith was a posthumous induction.
