Chapin wins in Greenwood, Scaletta medals

The girls high school golf season seems to go by in less time than the USGA allows golfers to look for a lost ball

This week many of the higher ranked teams in the state played in the Eagle Invitational at The Links at Stony Point near Greenwood. The event marked the unofficial halfway point in the girls season,

TL Hanna’s Melissa Scaletta won the individual medal at the event. Her 4-under par round of 68 won the tournament by 4 shots.

In the team competition Chapin is proving to be the team to beat in AAAAA golf this year.

The Eagles carded a 311 total at Stoney Point to win the Invitational by five shots.

Chapin was led once again by Mia Andrade who shot an even par round of 72 to tie for second place with Mauldin’s Olivia Pellerin.

Chesnee, the defending state AA champions, finished tied for second with Olivia Roberts and teammate Abigail Watson finishing fourth and fifth individually

Chapin. the top ranked AAAAA team in the SC Golf Coaches Poll, adds the win in the Eagle Invitational to victories earlier in the season at the Palmetto Preview and the Aynor Blue Jacket.
