The South Carolina Junior Golf Association used their golf shoes instead of hiking boots to “hike 100 holes” at the Spartanburg Junior Golf Facility at The Creek Golf Club.

Garrett Glaze, Kyle Maloney and Alex Hamilton from the SCGA and 2022 Player of the Year Sam Jackson walked the 100 holes to raise money for the SCJGA’s portion of the Youth on Course Junior golf initiative.

Friends of Junior golf pledged money for each hole played and in some cases could bid to see one of the golfers do a trick shot or play on the opposite side of the ball.

“Its been a long day, but the golf has been fun and pretty compeitive,” said Hamilton, who is the Senior Director of the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation. “We even had a couple holes in one,” he added. .

Glaze and Jackson had the aces, but Maloney and Hamilton got the better of the two in a friendly match on the last 18 holes.

The Youth on Course program gives juniors who are members the opportunity to play over 2,000 golf courses around the country for just $5,

The money raised by the “Hike” is used to cover some of the expenses of the program.

“Our goal was to raise around $10,000 and we were able to do that to cover our part of the program,” said Hamilton.
