Jennings moves up to #1, New SC HS rankings

Greenville’s William Jennings has moved to the top spot on the national Junior Golf Scoreboard, The Christ Church High School senior had been ranked in the top-10 before ascending to the top spot.

The Junior Golf Scoreboard is considered the authority on rating individual junior golfers in the country.

In tournaments ranked by the scoreboard, Jennings has posted three top-5s and one top-10 in the six national events he has entered.

Locally Jennings won the pre-season tune up Red Raider Classic and helped his Cavalier team to the team title.

Last fall, Jennings signed to play college golf at Alabama giving Crimson Tide coach, Anderson native, Jay Seawell .the top recruiting class in the country according to several web rankings.

Next year Jennings will join another Palmetto State golfer on the Alabama team.

Hilton Heads’ Jonathan Griz, was the youngest winner of the SCGA Amateur and the Alabama sophomore won his first college championship with his victory this week in the Linger Longer Invitational.

SCHS Coaches First In Season Ranking

The first in season rankings from the South Carolina High School Golf Coaches has little change from the pre-season poll among the top teams, but several newcomers have worked their way into the rankings.

Last year TL Hanna came from being unranked in the first poll to climb in the rankings and go on to win the AAAAA state championship,

The Golf Coaches plan to present their next poll on or around April 15th.
