High School girls golf teams have completed regional play and are set for the Upper and Lower State Qualifying Tournaments next week.

There are no awards given for the top finishing teams or individuals, instead the 18 hole tournaments are played to earn the right to compete for a state title.

On the eve of the qualifying tournaments, the South Carolina High School Golf Coaches have released their pre-tournament rankings of the top teams in each of the classifications.

High School realignment for this season has changed the classifications for a few contenders. Most of last year’s state champions are once again in position to add another championship.

Chesnee will be attempting to win its fourth straight state championship. The defending AA champion does not have an Upper State tournament to play. They will next play in the State Championship at the Chester Country Club on October 28-29.

Not only is the team going for four straight state titles, so is the Roberts family.
