High School girls golf teams have completed regional play and are set for the Upper and Lower State Qualifying Tournaments next week.
There are no awards given for the top finishing teams or individuals, instead the 18 hole tournaments are played to earn the right to compete for a state title.
On the eve of the qualifying tournaments, the South Carolina High School Golf Coaches have released their pre-tournament rankings of the top teams in each of the classifications.
SC Golf Coaches Final Ranking
High School realignment for this season has changed the classifications for a few contenders. Most of last year’s state champions are once again in position to add another championship.
Chesnee will be attempting to win its fourth straight state championship. The defending AA champion does not have an Upper State tournament to play. They will next play in the State Championship at the Chester Country Club on October 28-29.
Not only is the team going for four straight state titles, so is the Roberts family.
Sydney Roberts won the 2021 individual championship and the last two years her younger sister, Olivia has won state titles.

Dorman will be trying for a third straight AAAAA championship. This year, the top challengers to the Cavs are River Bluff and the Wildcats from Lexington.
Chapin had finished second behind the Cavaliers the last two years. This year the Eagles will now compete in AAAAA Division II and will be challenged for the championship by Hanna, Conway and North Myrtle Beach.

May River is the returning AAAA state champion and is led by last year’s tournament medalist, future Clemson golfer, Claire Green.
While the Sharks are the favorite, the AAAA Classification could be the most competitive, with Daniel and Fountain Inn from the Upstate joining Hilton Head and South Aiken.
